Re-opening statement from CameraWorld

In these challenging and uncertain times, I write with some good news about our plans for reopening our shops.

The government confirmed earlier this week that non-essential retailers can open in England from Monday 15th June. We closed all three CameraWorld stores in March and CameraWorld has been an online-only retailer for the past three months. As a small business, we depend on our store traffic, so we thank you for supporting us during these difficult times and shopping online. We have been working hard to adapt our business to maintain our high standards of customer service and by all the lovely emails and nice reviews you have given us, we seem to have delivered just that.

Our business has changed enormously over the last three months and we want to be very careful as we move to the next phase. We know that lots of customers are enjoying the convenience of shopping with us online and many customers prefer to shop this way, rather than visiting our stores. We are therefore planning a phased reopening of our shops and will have two CameraWorld shops open on Monday in Stevenage and Chelmsford. Our London shop will open in due course once we see customer confidence return in travelling and working in London.

Safety is our absolute priority and our colleagues have been working hard to get everything ready and to make sure you can shop with us safely. Both CameraWorld stores will open Monday but in a different way to normal trading. There might be a queue to get into the shops at times, as we will be limiting the number of customers allowed in-store at any one time. Our colleagues will be on hand to make sure we have a safe number of people inside the store and to help with social distancing. As we have “cosy” shops, we cannot allow more than two people in a service area at the same time.

Under Social Distance guidelines, we will not be offering any product demonstrations as this would involve close personal contact which would not be possible.

We have introduced a Click and Collect as part of our online service so you can still come to store and collect your order with a minimum of contact.

Many of you would like to trade-in or sell your unwanted equipment. We would be very happy to offer you a quote and you can do this in several ways:

• Visit our website and complete a simple form and we will get back to you by the next a day with a written quote.

• Send a list of your equipment to [email protected]

• Call us and let us know what you have, and we can offer a quote over the phone

• Drop off your goods to us at either store for inspection and we will aim to get back to

you the same day

I appreciate some of these changes may be inconvenient for you and you might be disappointed. We are sorry for this but please know that our colleagues are doing

everything they can to get the right measures in place to ensure everyone stays safe and can continue to shop with us. I know life is going to be different for all of us for some time, but we are doing the best we can do deliver our quality service for which we are renowned for.
